Business Insurance has selected Verisk Maplecroft’s Chief Analyst Jimena Blanco among the 2022 winners of its annual Women to Watch awards program.
Business Insurance started the program in 2006 to recognize women leaders doing outstanding work in risk management and commercial insurance. The program has recognized winners working around the globe, and in 2017, the publication expanded the awards to include a separate program specifically for women executives in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Jimena’s achievements were recognised among the EMEA cohort of winners, which includes candidates from some of the world’s largest insurers and risk management organisations including, Aon, Axa, Chubb, Marsh and Willis Towers Watson.
Within the past 5 years, Jimena has progressed from being a principal analyst leading a UK-based team, to opening and building Verisk Maplecroft’s Mexico - Buenos Aires - and Malaga-based practices. In this period, she rose to a senior leadership position within Verisk Maplecroft, becoming first a Research Director in January 2019 and then being appointed Chief Analyst in July 2022. This means she has transitioned from a regional to a global role, coordinating the company’s research into an ever-more complex global risk environment - encompassing the fragmentation of geopolitics, country-level political risks and rising environmental and human rights pressures. She now plays a central role in the development of the research agenda and the implementation of the company’s five-year strategy.
