Role Purpose 

Verisk Maplecroft’s Africa Research team is responsible for developing the company’s qualitative analysis and forecasts relating to political, security economic and regulatory risks across sub-Saharan Africa. The team works closely with Verisk Maplecroft’s analytics, human rights, and environmental teams on products and analysis relevant to international investors.

The West Africa Analyst/Senior Analyst will take the lead in generating in-depth and forward-looking analysis of political, regulatory, economic and security developments in the sub-region, particularly Nigeria and other countries in West Africa. The analyst will collaborate with our economics team to develop assessments of the political factors affecting economic trends and developments. The analyst will also work closely with the wider Africa team on cross-cutting regional issues.

There is significant potential for the successful applicant to progress into a management role.

Main Responsibilities

  • Produce forward-looking briefings and insights on events and trends in West Africa and their impact on the interests of Verisk Maplecroft’s clients
  • Create and update Verisk Maplecroft’s core country profile content for West Africa
  • Engage directly with clients to provide quantitative and qualitative analytical skills on West African issues of relevance to the commercial operators
  • Contribute to the scoring and reviewing of Verisk Maplecroft’s qualitative indices in accordance with our methodologies and procedures
  • Contribute to the scoring of commodity-specific indices; create and update commodity-specific analysis for commodities of relevance to West Africa

Knowledge & Experience

  • A Master’s degree in economics, international affairs, political science, or another relevant field is preferred

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in a relevant field is preferred, particularly political risk analysis or consultancy
  • Well-developed understanding of politics, economic and trade relations in West Africa. Sound understanding of salient political and regulatory issues, particularly in the extractive industries

Sales & Marketing

Role: Lead Client Experience Executive – North America
Team: Sales & Marketing
Location: North America (Houston, Calgary)

Role Purpose

You will help our clients derive maximum value for their subscription, tools and services procured from Verisk Maplecroft, across the entire product set. As such you will become a subject matter expert in user journeys, understand how different functions and divisions within large corporates derive value from our data and analysis, and how this varies between industries. You will also support the Head of Client Services in establishing a successful vision for the Client Services function, best practice advocacy and liaison with the wider Verisk client services community. This role may also have a development opportunity to potentially lead a regional client services function in the future, dependant on performance and meeting eligibility criteria.  

Key relationships

You report to the Head of Client Services and work closely with Client Services Team, Sales and Marketing and Software colleagues globally.  You also co-ordinate routinely with nearly all other Verisk Maplecroft departments, including Research, Consulting and Analytics. You will also be involved with new product development by representing the voice of the customer in internal discussions relating to Portal enhancements.

Main Responsibilities

Providing training and support to key client accounts

You will support the sales team through the strategic account engagement process to promote customer loyalty with key clients’ accounts, identify cross sell opportunities and seek through training engagements to retain clients whose renewals are at risk. You do this by advising clients on how to set up appropriate configurations, have an in-depth knowledge of our indices, their methodologies and the process of using the full range of online analytical tools in order to provide this support. Tasks include;

  • Training:
    • Client Training - deliver training sessions on variety of subscriptions, risk analysis tools and platforms (in person and via screen share applications), including discussion facilitation.
    • Internal Training – coordinate and deliver product coaching for internal clients.
    • Sales Support activities – support account managers in sales activities.
    • Training Materials - create and maintain internal and external training materials and guides.

  • Commerciality:
    • Engage in commercially-focussed discussions to gather intelligence on competitor threat and client requirements which may influence product, service and overall business development.  Share intelligence via Salesforce groups, topics and Chatter.

  • Collaboration:

Role Purpose

This will be the first hire in a new Data Science team reporting into the CTO. We need someone to work with people (and data sources) across the business to consolidate, aggregate, and make sense of various types of data, ranging from website analytics to structured API feeds from vendors to web crawls. A few example projects that the successful candidate would work on are:

  • Customer engagement reports & dashboards to support the Sales & Marketing team, pulling data from Google Analytics and our CMS & entitlement databases to show who is (or isn’t!) accessing what content
  • Usage metrics for the Research teams to better understand how customers are consuming their content (using similar data to 1.)
  • Using web scraping tools to assist Research analysts with their work by aggregating and annotating a variety of news sources
