Produced to order

Maplecroft produces advisory notes for clients on a range of corporate responsibility topics. The aim of the notes is to advise on specific areas of risk and opportunity in the client's operations or sector around the world. The notes draw on the expertise of the Maplecroft team.

A few examples of areas that could be covered include:

  • human rights risk and its relevance to the client in terms of the supply chain or in particular 'hot spots' around the world, such as Myanmar/Burma, Indonesia, China, Sudan and Nigeria;
  • key issues such as HIV/AIDS and malaria;
  • particular risks that affect human rights, such as forced or bonded labour, discrimination issues or corruption, which can impact upon the client;
  • the importance of stakeholder engagement by the client - particularly within local communities and with indigenous peoples;
  • particular areas of opportunity for corporate citizenship, such as partnerships to draw on strengths of the client; and
  • risks that are specific to the client's sector (see also the Maplecroft sector reviews):
    • child labour in the apparel industry;
    • humane transportation of animals in the transportation industry;
    • environmental challenges in the agricultural sector;
    • health and safety in the mining industry; and
    • indigenous peoples in the construction industry.
