Professor Alyson Warhurst - Chief Executive Officer

Chair of Strategy and International Development, Warwick Business School (1999 to 2009) and Honorary Professor from 2010. CEO and Founder of Maplecroft (the global risk advisory firm and issue mapping specialist). Inaugural winner of the Faculty Pioneer “Beyond Grey Pinstripes Award” (called by the FT the “Business School Oscars”). Faculty of World Economic Forum (2000 to present). Member of Clinton Global Initiative. Board Director, Transparency International UK. Member of UN Human Rights Working Group. Adviser at Board level to global companies and organizations. Regular winner of the “Outstanding Teacher Award”. Writer of several books and more than one hundred articles on sustainability, risk and responsibility. Business Week columnist and speaker on topics including: human rights, ethical supply chains, global risks, corporate reputation and CSR. Committed to education and knowledge dissemination about roles and responsibilities of business in society.

Ed Cole - Chief Operating Officer

Ed Cole has a BSc in Physics and Electronics. He has 25 years experience in high growth technology companies as engineer, operations, marketing, sales and general management. Most of his career has been with Silicon Valley based companies with international responsibilities. He lived in Switzerland through the 90’s, with corporate roles at Silicon Graphics Inc. during its time of near vertical growth and serial acquisitions. With a special interest in mathematical modeling and visualisation for scientific and business insight, Ed directs Maplecroft’s technology together with business operations and finance.

Roger Cabrera - Associate Director

Roger has a BA in Law, an International MBA from Instituto de Empresa and a MLitt in International Security from St. Andrews. Prior to joining Maplecroft, Roger worked for over four years in PricewaterhouseCoopers’ mergers and acquisitions team, where he advised multinational companies, private equity funds and small and medium enterprises in domestic and cross-border deals.

Dr Kevin Franklin - Associate Director

Dr. Kevin Franklin has a PhD in Business Studies from Warwick Business School with a focus on collaborative decision-making, stakeholder engagement and sustainability performance management. He has a strong practical background embedding sustainability performance management systems, assurance programmes and reporting processes in corporate and operational functions of multi-national businesses. Kevin has 10+ years experience advising companies on non-financial risks and corporate responsibility issues in developed and developing country contexts. This includes extensive work on energy and climate change, carbon strategies and accounting, biodiversity and related environmental issues. He is an experienced auditor in both ISO 14001, ISO 14064 and SA 8000 standards and has authored numerous reports for high-level international fora.

Gus Macfarlane - Associate Director

Gus trained in international law in the City and in international security at the University of St. Andrews. He has worked in the Lloyd's insurance market and the European Commission, where he trained with the terrorism and security cooperation unit. At Maplecroft, he is an integral part of the consultancy team and advises companies operating in emerging markets and the developing world on a range of issues including community relations, human rights, anti-corruption and stakeholder engagement. Gus also works with the political risk team, concentrating on sub-Saharan Africa and the extractive industries.

Deborah Leipziger - Principal Consultant

Deborah Leipziger is a Principal Consultant at Maplecroft. She has been a high level corporate responsibility advisor to major organisations and corporations and is a well known author with several book publications to her name. These include - The Corporate Responsibility Code Book, considered a leading reference in the field of CR and Living Corporate Citizenship. She has also edited the recently published: SA8000: The First Decade. Deborah is an integral part of the joint Maplecroft / UN Global Compact project, the Human Rights Dilemmas Forum, addressing human rights dilemmas for multi-national corporations. She is based in Boston and also acts as Maplecroft’s Ambassador to the US, Canada, and Latin America.

Jason McGeown - Communications Manager

Jason is head of communications at Maplecroft. He directs the PR and media strategy and is responsible for marketing across the company. He is a media professional with several years in the online and broadcast industries and has extensive experience of developing, marketing and distributing political and social themed documentary programming for the international market. Before joining Maplecroft he was the head of content for an online VOD documentary channel. He has a BA Hons in American studies and English and a post graduate diploma in journalism.
