Maplecroft’s new poster – “China and Africa: a new partnership” – features Maplecroft’s China Integration Index (CII), a unique index of China’s integration into the global economy. The CII is a composite of world trade and investment data that gauges the extent of China’s economic relationships with other countries. The poster also features in-depth research on Chinese involvement in Africa, with a special focus on investment in natural resources. Country case studies describe the most notable instances of Chinese investment, making this a valuable as well as visually appealing reference document.

DATA is an advocacy organisation dedicated to eradicating extreme poverty and AIDS in Africa. It was founded in 2002 by U2 lead singer Bono, Bobby Shriver and activists from the Jubilee "Drop the Debt" campaign. To mark the re-launch of its website, Maplecroft provided DATA with eight interactive maps. A custom-built ‘Africa Facts’ map highlights key information about each country, including demographics, climate, economy, and history. In addition, Maplecroft provided seven of its own interactive maps on the topics of HIV/AIDS, aid, debt, education, water, malaria and corruption. As part of Maplecroft’s commitment to being a social enterprise, this work was undertaken pro bono.

As part of the 5th anniversary celebrations for the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Maplecroft has produced a suite of 11 maps. They show grant amounts approved and disbursed so far for the three diseases, as well as in total. They also map donor country pledges and contributions, as well as donor country contributions in relation to gross national income. The project was pro bono on the part of Maplecroft, and a sum equivalent to our work was donated to the Global Fund.
